Pumpkin seeds

Pumpkin seeds are our first and best product, and we are proud to call them our specialty.
Our favourite pumpkin seeds come from Ukraine, from where we import the GWS (grown without shell) AAA, Snow White, and Shine Skin because of their rich flavour; but we also have some varieties coming from China.
Pumpkin seeds are a nutritious and healthy snack that can be consumed both cooked and roasted, alone or as an aperitif. They are also often used in recipes, both for sweet and savoury dishes, and to add a unique touch to baked goods, pasta dishes, and desserts.
From a nutritional point of view, pumpkin seeds contain vitamins C, E, K, and B, minerals such as magnesium, zinc, and selenium, and omega-3. They have an anti-inflammatory effect, help both prevent and fight cystitis, and, thanks to their high fibre content, they help regulate bowel movements. They are also used as a phytotherapeutic remedy to treat benign prostatic hypertrophy. If consumed during daytime, they are an excellent source of energy, while if consumed in the evening they have a strong calming effect which helps combat stress and insomnia.

Fun facts about pumpkin seeds

Historically, Eastern European countries such as Russia, Ukraine, Romania and the Balkans, have been known for producing and consuming pumpkin seeds.
In Italy in the past, especially in the areas of San Giovanni in Persiceto and Sant’Agata Bolognese in the province of Bologna, people used to grow pumpkins in their gardens in order to extract their seeds, although the seeds usually ended up being rather small.
